Many Thanks to Olivia for letting /getting me in here. In a minute I will go back and approve my comments, but I am HERE.
OK, that would be me, the potentially irksome Willie Trask, sometimes using Mr Pink, or traveling under the name of Bobfitz.
I had mentioned the ribbon device of a $20 bill in Twenty Bucks, which is an entertaining movie- ribbon device, as in "tie it all up with a ribbon", that is...
Can we list a bunch of movies or other works we have in mind? Suddenly CRASH is at the front of my mind, as an "interlocking vignettes" feature that worked well. Tom Wolfe and Thackeray and Trollope ( I LOVE to get under the covers on a winter's night with a drink and a little Trollope) did it long before that. The 18th/19th century paradigm ( as embraced by Tom W, too) was to launch two or three separate plots and weave them into a lovely, inevitably overlapping confection. I think the more modern is the "daisy chain" where each episode is lit off the one before, like a chain smoker's daily does.
Anyway, in and happy to be so,
Willie, etc.

I'll think about movies this week. I need to check out Coffee and cigarettes too.
